| The Bereavement Grant is a once-off payment
of €850 (approx) for deaths which occur on or after
6th December 2006. It replaces the former Death Grant
Scheme.
The Bereavement Grant is not means tested.
It may be paid to:
the person responsible for payment of the funeral
expenses.
to the surviving spouse.
to the executor.
to the next-of-kin.
Applications should be made within 12 months from
the date of death.
